When my youngest son was about 18 months, we were standing in line for Santa at the mall. He kept trying to twist out of my husband's grasp and then all of a sudden he started crying and holding his arm funny. It was just dangling there. I panicked and we took him to the ER. After about an hour & 1/2 waiting, my son started to get bored and started playing in the waiting room. That's when I noticed his arm seemed better. I went to the triage nurse and told her we'd probably just leave because everything seemed to be fine. She told me it looked like he got "nanny's elbow", where the child wriggles out of someone holding his hand and jerks his elbow out of whack. We left and my son never had any problems again. He's 24 now. But that photo with Santa breaks my heart !
