It's hard to say what will stick around after the Great Awakening.
I'll tell you this though, the transgender at my local Starbucks has turned back into a normal guy.
I dont know what sparked it, but I hadn't seen him in a while. Now he's pulled the pig tails out of his hair, took off the training bra, and wears a name tag with a man's name on it. I guess being transgender was "just an idea".
I read somewhere (should be easy enough to find) that many "transgenders" end up with buyer's remorse, become further depressed, and many of them commit suicide. It's not a mental state I would wish on ANYONE. So maybe that's what your barista discovered....that it wasn't working as planned.
So many of the tenets of "progressive thought" are simply convoluted social constructs. They claim to hate social constructs like gender etc., but THEY are the ones promoting these constructs.
William Buckley used to say that some ideas are so ridiculous that only an intellectual could believe them. That's how "progressive" ideas are, with more moving parts than a 17 jewel watch. Take socialism, for example.... it is a construct based on the writings of Marx and others that requires a total reconstruction of economies and politics, all backed up with armed military and police to make sure there are no stragglers.
Meanwhile, Capitalism has sprung up in human societies as a pure expression of human behavior of bartering, swapping, buying, and selling, and most of all, people making things better and cheaper because of competition. It's the closest thing to "natural" as can be found. Yet the Deep Thinkers of the progressive side try to complicate it with special rules, ruinous taxes, and pillaging the labor of others to create "equity"... whatever they define that as being.
And it's a contrived construct that is so WONDERFUL that socialist countries usually have to build walls and barbed-wire fences to keep people in as forced participants in that unworkable system.
Apply that to every "progressive" idea you hear of and the same will apply.
Maybe, but I'm absolutely certain that its stinking corpse will drag around for years before a stake can be driven into its cinder of a heart.
