PCR was designed as a lab tool. Not as a medical diagnostic tool. It was designed to take a single section of DNA, copy it many many times to amplify it and make it viewable and measurable. Not to tell you you are sick, or the thing you are sick from is going to kill you. That's straight from the creator, Kerry Mullis.
