That Flynn looks like a cross between Flynn and Durham!
That's a good point really.
We are at the stage of the chess game where both sides have fully developed and now the forced exchanges are beginning. This leads to a reduction of remaining pieces on the board and a simplification as to how the players will proceed. It is critical with the exchange phase and with the end game thereafter to maintain the initiative. Every move must force a move from the other player as you tighten the noose around your opponents king. The opponents options and moves should become more and more restricted until you have neutralized the threat of his remaining pieces. At that point you checkmate the king (presuming your opponent doesn't blunder along the way there by showing his king's soft belly to your sword).
When I look back on the last year of events, I can see where the pieces have been moving on the board and setting the strategies that have transpired over that time. The exchange phase ushers in the endgame, so hopefully we see that resolve in 2022.
