Taiwanese company Evergreen reported a 1300% year-over-year jump in net profits in the first three quarters of 2021.
A couple who have worked at Evergreen for more than a decade said they received a combined $180,100 in year-end bonuses. They each earned a basic salary of $2,100 a month, so the bonus works out to about 42 months in monthly wages.
Evergreen attribute the insane revenue growth to rising freight costs. But another freight company "Maersk" only gave their employees $1,000 bonus (taken from same article).
Yes, of course. How else do you keep people quiet? Evergreen transports human beings, and may be under investigation. Perhaps their entire op will be shut down or slowed. If so, senior employees will lose income. But if you want them to shut up, give them money so that they have less pressure to spill the beans.
