These booms have been consistently reported throughout the world for decades. There’s always some ridiculous explanation. Today’s exploding meteor takes the cake,

Could it have been activity exactly 3 or 10 km below?
There was also an earthquake off the coast of Rockport Ma around 9:00am with a depth of 10 km. Earthquakes around there are very rare. It's not exactly close to Pittsburgh but it isn't too far either. Curious why you asked about 3 or 10 km below?

We're north of "da burgh" and didn't hear or feel anything.
Ok so weird my wife woke me up in a panic New Year’s Day that she heard and explosion and thought our wood stove had back puffed and blew its door off. But it had not and we didn’t see anything (not fireworks or anything)
Sorta like the "meteor strike" being used as the excuse for a house-rattling long boom we had a few years ago in my humble little town in central AZ.
