I'm not sure how reliable that claim is, but what I have seen is that it is generally thought that about 1/3 of the colonists wanted to get independence, another third wanted to stay under the governance of the British, and the last third was mostly indifferent, but that was enough for the American war of independence to happen. So, those are pretty good numbers, right?
