Smoked for over 40 years, 1/2 pack a day. Still jog 5km a couple times a week. Switched to vaping. 2 weeks later had blood clots in both lungs which developed into pneumonia. Started researching and found this, while not common, has been happening in increasing numbers. In fact, a specialist I was referred to had treated a few other people with a similar history and story. Went back to cigarettes. Feel better but poorer........
I tried the vaping,. every time I did it for a day(instead of smoking) the next day I could not breath in the morning. My lungs filled with gunk. The only help was to get a real cigarette and puff it down, then I would hack up a lung or two and then feel fine. I have smoked forever, hardly get sick. No issues with lung capacity either. I have NEVER had an experience with smoking that scared the shit out of me like Vaping did. There is one thing I remember that was a similar terrible feeling of not being able to breath like what the vaping caused,... I helped set up road flairs on an icy road where there was a major pile up, I breathed in too much of the flair smoke, and for the next few days I thought I was gonna die. Same feeling if I vape.
Yeah, I know a lot of people that vape but never heard of this happening as a result. Although I don't know anyone personally that have the popcorn lung thing.. I have heard of that being a thing.. but I still am not sure what popcorn lung really is
I know, me either. My husband vaped for a year and it helped him stop smoking. He also had a history of pneumonia, no side effects. I tried vaping full time too to help me quit, my breathing was better and I quit being out of breath all the time. The only side effect was my gums bled more at the dentist when they poked them. Seems that the nicotine from cigarettes constrict your nerve endings, slowing the blood flow( I know too much info). My dentist did NOT approve of vaping though, and let me know. He's anti-smoking anything.
From what I hear popcorn lung is when you take a slow deep inhale of air and it starts making the sound like you are popping popcorn.. This can happen from other things, not just vaping. My friend has it from working on an industrial chicken farm without proper ventilation, the fumes from their poop can destroy your lungs.
Well, I guess the only thing I can say now is, I've been back on the cigarettes for 3 years, haven't been ill once and never had a recurrence of blood clots (not Jabbed also). Also, after the clots, my dr told me I would need to be on warfarin for the rest of my life, as obviously I had a clotting issue.... lol Told him to keep his rat poison. I ride a motorcycle, hike etc. The last thing I want to do was bleed to death from a simple accident.
