You can tell from the way Neil says it and the way he looks at her that he intentionally dropped that bomb to make her sweat. She scrambles to explain it and then he plays it off like "haha" but he knew what he was doing when he dropped that. His eyes alone tell his real intent. You hear it in his voice.
