Why do you figure Twitter and Facebook ever were "the battlefield"? I don't think they're the battlefield. I think they're a dungeon used for brainwashing the innocent into wickedness. Our web traffic helps make it happen. Facebook and twitter control the narrative on facebook and twitter. That's not a battle; it's a waste of time.
