Yeah I don’t understand why this keeps getting mentioned. My phone has been getting a 5G signal since at least Oct 2020. 5G has been getting rolled out for over 2 years.
The way it was explained on the news earlier is 5g works over 2 typs of carrier waves. One is short range and slower, but can work with 'normal ' cell towers, the other is better range and speed, but needs different transmission forms. This is the one the 'FAA' is worried over.
Well that's literally why TMobile bought sprint. TMobile was developing the long wave and Sprint was doing the short wave. I got fucked by having a Sprint phone that couldn't accept long wave until I upgraded. 5gs been here.
It means they're flipping the 3G towers to 5G towers. Eh that's not a very accurate way to put that, but that's basically it.
They're booting up more 5G basically though. Also not sure why people think this is interesting. Maybe I'm missing something...
3g is nice internet, 5g is a microwave in everyone's face 24/7. I enjoy camping.
From the constant ringing in my ears I can agree that 5G is operational in the United States of America since October 2020. You can see the 5G antenna all over, and all modern city street lights could include it.
One type of 5g is marketing 5g so you will spend more money on a new phone and new plan. Marketing 5g is really just plans with less data throttling. Actual 5g tech is not really in widespread use.
What about the "millimeter wave" of 5G? Or that still includes it?
