Being an Aspie is ultimately why I quit college. I just didn't fit in at the drinking capital of the world, UNC at Chapel Hill, NC, which had the highest per capita consumption of alcohol in the world.
Everyone in my family was conservative.
I didn't qualify for the military. So I started at the bottom of the job market and worked my way up. Then I got tired of micromanaging by ignoramuses and went Galt on them. I've been happy ever since. I'd be happier if I had more money, but that's how it goes.
We cope with each life’s decision as it’s presented to us. Do-overs are a fantasy excersize in futility. My daughter had a full-boat scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill and quit cuz “it wasn’t challenging and I didn’t like their career molds”. She’s a successful businesswoman now and we’re very proud. We weren’t WHEN SHE PULLED THAT SHIT THO?!! Aint life grand?!!
There have been ups and downs, but I'm doing fine now. I'm the big fish in the small pond of my field, so I can get side work any time I want. I've written books and articles in my field. I'll never be rich, but I do have all the toys. So I win. :)
Yeah, you have!! Enormous effort Bro. I was at top of my field too until health sidelined me. It’s all good…being a life-warrior is enuf payment for me!!
I almost died twice 4 years ago, but I'm better now. The best part of that was paying off the bills. :) Of course, not dying yet was good too, as I have too much left to do.
As an Aspie, I have two major interests, and my profitable field is one of those. And I'm the best in that. At least the millionaire who pays me says so. Of course, he always has to have the best, so having me work for him automatically makes me the best in the world. He has actually said so in a YouTube video. I've even been on the front page of his hometown newspaper a couple of times. He has an ego, but he does have fun with his money.
I work on the computer most of the day, and that doesn't necessarily require good health. I just need to stay awake.
