If any one is old enough to remember the TV show Sliders (from the late 90's) check out episode 3 from season 1.
In it, they arrive on an Earth experiencing a pandemic they call "the Q". It was implemented by The Elite Scum, whose goal was world depopulation.
Also, one of the producers last name was Epstein.

Very strange that you mention this. I got re-interested in Sliders recently. It runs on Comet. I acquired the whole series and just watched the episode you refer to.

Good series. But stop watching it at the end of the second season. It just went off the rails at that point.
Seasons 1 and much of season 2 was the best of that series.
