Did you go and get the radio license? I only ask because I know we live in the same area, based on previous conversations on TD, so I was curious about local recommendations.
I asked my buddy who teaches prepping your question. His response:
"Only to transmit on a ham/baofeng radio. It’s ok to listen. However, in an emergency, I don’t think you’ll be getting a fine if you need medical or police and use the radio. "
My inner tribe of 15-20 people all have Baofeng radios, so I guess I'll look into that a bit.
I just grabbed a Baofeng myself. I’m probably going to take the class and get licensed for shits and giggles. Does your buddy do classes in the SD area?
Yes he does. There's a prepping group that he drags me to occasionally when there's an interesting topic, but I've had him partner with me doing classes when our Constitution guy is out of town.
I do money theory and true history stuff and describe why the world is going to end. He then tells everyone how to prepare for it.
