There's also a bottle shortage, of all things, too. Went to get a case of beer in bottles and there's none to be had. Everything is in cans. Our mechanic lost out this year, as we always give him a case for Christmas and he prefers bottles.
A year ago I read there would be an aluminum shortage. Guess it's only a matter of time till it hits canned food items for people. I don't generally buy canned cat food (my cats get it as an occasional treat), but I've glanced down the cat food aisle in Dollar General and noticed the shelves are pretty bare. Haven't noticed the state of affairs at the local grocery store, but I'll check it out now.
Was at Aldi's today. In the produce section they took out some veggie shelves and replaced them with two huge boxes on the floor filled with onions and potatoes. Both were less than half full. In other parts of the store, there were large gaping holes of missing product. One thing I did notice was that shortages aren't consistent. They had no pasta whatsoever for over three weeks. The pasta is back, but now other sections are empty. It's weird -- almost like they're rotating the products that are in short supply. As long as you stock up when they do have something, you can manage to get everything you need even if you can't get it every week.
I have two cats, one (who we’ll call ‘little kitty’) has an overbite and has a hard time eating. I buy the Friskies with Extra Gravy and squeeze all the gravy out into a bowl for her, and then give the chunks of food to our older cat in another bowl. I have to keep an eye for when little kitty is done so I can put the bowl up on the counter so the other kitty doesn’t go and drink it, since it’s the best part. She usually only drinks half of it and then drinks the rest some time later, so, as much as we don’t want her up on the counter, we allow it in this sense. We have been having a hard time finding the whole case of 24 lately.
My daughter would want to go there just for saltines lol. It's possible other stores in town had them....prob did. But i was shocked. Walmart, of all places, is the store most of out of shit.
Exactly so random! I saw one stack of zesta saltines....i was like yesssss. Then they were wheat! lol. No wonder they were left. I usually buy store brand crackers bc theyre like a buck but would have bought any. Couldnt believe it. Very random stuff was missing fron the shelves. But every time im there, more and more is missing.
I was like I know it's not because of holidays! I mean I can see pie crusts, etc being out but who the heck runs out of saltines 🤣 oyster crackers too! 🤷🏼♀️
Not aluminum but either manganese or magnesium which is used in the creation of aluminum.

Wifey reports difficulty finding cat food here in the People's Republic of NY.
We need a running stickies post on food and supply shortages.
Definitely a lot more space being added to grocery stores to disguise lack of inventory.
Lots of empty sections on the shelves increasing by the day.

Achtung! Mining magnesium is Verboten! Unless you're in China.
Grocery store stocked with Everything, but Portobello mushrooms, only the white (anemic) kind is plenty. What is this world coming to?
I prefer the magic ones.

I couldnt even get saltines or water at walmart in east tx the other day.
I just bought bottled water at HEB near Humble, Texas (NE of Houston).
Bottled water section was full, no problem. They also have all the saltines or crackers you'd want.
I haven't noticed any difference.

Saltines out here 2 past 2 times I've done grocery pickup. No off brand, name brand, etc. 🤷🏼♀️ random
