Question...?? Why does noone test positive for a old " variant" when a New "variant" comes along....?

Well, this is actually simple biology rooted in evolutionary biology. If the genetics change such that it spreads more easily (for instance, a virus becomes more resistent to UV) this variant will survive.
Imagine you now get Omikron and your immune system deals with it. It has the antibodies. Along comes Delta and your immune systems kicks its ass before you can even pass it to someone else (very low viral load).
Viruses compete, just as all organisms do.
Tests can't tell the difference. In theory you are correct, but the moment a new variant shows we should still be seeing the old one until what you described takes place.
They announce a variant and it's the one everyone has. Sus to say the least
Not only that, they don't even test for variants. The only way they can is with gene sequencing, and there's only a few labs in the country that CAN do it.
