All influenza now is from the 1918 pandemic, I think I learned that here actually. So there’s so many variants they have to guess which ones to include in the vaccine. They can only add several because the body just won’t have enough memory workers to account for hundreds of variants.
There’s a memory limit.
So once the variants are multiplying the vaccines will work less and less.
However they still have a vaccine requirement for influenza in some lines of work so I expect this to be like that and the flu vaccine eventually. Maybe even for schools, but not everyone. So it’s not going to ever go away for some lines of work like military, healthcare, going to college, etc.
But today the SC showed understanding that the vaccines will be limited in their ability to just outright stop infection and Covid will be similar to the flu, and vaccines will be similar.
So pandemic cant be stopped with vaccines so no one is going to fight excessively hard to get everyone vaccinated.
I think the vaccines do offer some protection but it’s waning each variant. They will make new vaccines which will offer some protection but at a cost, risk of all these adverse events we are hearing about, which can’t be proven, but I wonder if they will be proven down the road here. Maybe SC has some information we don’t know yet.
