Papers have always been required to be shown, look at passports. We can't fault the globalists that there wasn't a Frenchman around to show a passport to if your itinerary had you visiting France on June 6th 1944.

This is a joke, I applaud the based french standing up for human rights. Its a play on a ww2 joke about France that is pretty funny. If anyone is interested and requests the whole proper joke, ill post it in a reply.
