I tell them that I will wear one (out of respect) if they have a mental illness.

I've been hella curious how the deaf are dealing with this stuff. Dated one years ago and their world was an interesting one to enter. Her ability to read lips was fucking impressive as hell. If you've ever seen the movie I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell that intro is pretty much spot on.
It's been horrid. Have a friend unable to go to college because no local schools would exempt her or anyone else of mask. She can't communicate at all with the hearing world. Where's the ADA now?
Yeah my ex had a notepad she used to communicate with the hearing public. It was already a pain the ass with her reading lips and writing a response.
Miserable for the hearing impaired. I contract tutors and had one who reads lips--she had a wretched time.
I'm not hearing impaired but never realized how much lip reading I do until the masking started. Our young kids are going to lack this skill!
Wow that's a really good point. It never occurred to me how much I do that as well. Having to try to decipher what people are saying behind that mask has been exhausting. I feel like I can barely hear them unless they are shouting but the volume is fine I just cant read their lips anymore. We are going to have a generation of fucked up people in the coming years.
