Today's "I'm fully vaccinated, but..." is so yesterday's "I don't support Trump, but..."
It's sad we live in an era where people have to qualify their statements in this manner. That's all.

It's 2 reasons that are kind of connected :
#1 They think they are smarter than everyone else. They actually believe they are smart enough to know if they've been conned. They have a false sense of 'intelligence entitlement' because "trusted" sources on the TV told them 'facts'.
#2 They are scared. If they say the truth out loud, it's conviction of belief. If they say the truth out loud, they have to admit they've been conned. They have to admit they're NOT as smart as they think they are.
It's also fear of being an individual. "Don't make waves" is the motto for so many people. Not making waves means you're just sitting in a boat on a body of water and just drifting. No thought needed, no action needed. "If I don't think about bad things, that means they're not real" Basically the definition of a smooth brain.
Everyone thinks they have a high IQ. Facts are the average is under 100. Facts are IQ means absolutely nothing. There are doctors, lawyers, scientists, architects, and engineers that can't even do a necktie.
Indeed. Interject with, "But even if you were/ weren't..."
