I wonder why the canned cat food is in short supply. Especially the reasonably priced brands. Walmart is completely out, and our local grocery stores are low all the time, even though they currently have sale prices of 10 for _____. It's like they encourage you to buy 10 at a time and then don't stock enough. They do the same thing with beverages.
I know, the pricing makes no sense. Last week, Walmart and Food Lion didn't even have the expensive stuff, Martins had some of the expensive and it was on sale, so one poor guy who said he had several cats was buying a bunch of that.
I stocked up a bit months ago and just buy a few when I can to keep my stash going. If worse comes to worse, my little feral cat will eat dry food and so far there's plenty of that. But she really likes her little cans of canned.
No need to stock up on dry food. There's plenty in the stores. I have no problem getting my cat to eat dry food. She's a feral stray that showed up here and announced this was her house. Believe me, we know she'll eat anything in the way of fish, chicken, turkey. Try opening a can of tuna around her and try to walk without a cat wrapped around your ankle. LOL
You need to stock up on anything you use, because it won't always be in the stores. They have shown that with toilet paper, frozen foods, canned cat food, and countless other items.
The whole system may collapse, or you may just lose your job and be jobless for a few months.
Prices are increasing a lot. Buy something now, and you don't have to buy it later when the price is higher. Keep buying, and you're always ahead of inflation. It's better than putting money in the bank.

Hint. Your cats will probably eat canned tuna or canned chicken, and there seems to be plenty of that in the stores.
Be aware that dry food can go bad. We had to dispose of some a while back. The cats wouldn't touch it any more. We bought new food, and it was fine.
Here's a trick. Give your cats a couple of pieces of dry food as if they are treats. The cats usually won't know the difference.
