He has only been at CS a year, per the article. Was formerly upper level at UBS, another Swiss bank. I suspect he got there and discovered things he didn't want to be associated with and got out. Or, he wouldn't play ball with the current CS culture and they asked him to leave. This clearly isn't simply a performance issue.
