Seeing spots / blotches is a sign of seriously low blood sugar.

Unquenchable thirst is a sign of high blood sugar.

If you're experiencing either and you've got a good friend who is a Type 1 Diabetic, ask if they'll give you a finger prick test (with a new pin please) to check your blood glucose levels. The test takes about five seconds and the finger-ouchy will last as long as you dwell on it. If you don't care then you'll forget about it within ten seconds.
