The low dust mud is good for coating, but shit for sanding. So often the drywall gets burned before the edge is good for paint.
Unless there's a reason to get the low dust mud other stuff is better.
I don't like it personally. I typically use 45min, 20 min, and tape mud. A few places I have done require a very smooth even finish and that's pretty hard to get with the low dust mud for me. Plus, hot mud works so fast I don't have to spend a week at a house getting the job done right. Houston had so many drywall jobs from the hurricane last year that you could work nonstop just on drywalling. There are still people that need drywalling done down here from that storm.
Yeah, its easier to sand, work fast, you can modify its consistency to what you need, you can add additives when desired
