The US actually manufactures more lumber than any other country on the planet, Canada is second. So that's probably not going to happen. Most of our wood products (Lumber, paper, pulp, cardboard, etc.) comes from domestic tree farms in the south. Texas, Georgia, Alabama, and Louisiana in particular are the big producers. Oregon and Washington also produce quite a bit, but it's more of a specialty lumber rather than general all purpose lumber.
Yes, pine trees sprout like weeds on any unmowed land in the southeast.
