What you missed was a comment that was critical of how mostly thoughtless and unintelligent the comment sections have become on this site. While not always true, these threads have become mostly "Reddit Right" and I think the reactions to his comment prove the point he was making. We used to be able to have intelligent conversations here, even when people were critical or disagreed. Now people just get downvoted into oblivion and chastised.

The worst part is I made a comment that simply told people to think twice before downvoting and think about what he was saying, and it was hidden by the mods. I've been here for more than a year now, and this is a very troubling direction.
