My guess is Maher is creating a problem so the banking goblins will pay him to stop it.

We see the same thing with Hillary Clinton, Kellyanne Conway and Lindsey Graham. Hillary threatens to run for president only because she knows the DNC will pay her a shit-tonne to shut up and fuck off. Conway and Graham stab President Trump in the back whenever they want $$$ special favors $$$ in exchange for not sabotaging important policy.
