I was a Lions fan for just about 30 years (I stopped watching about three seasons ago) and Rodgers/Packers was my most hated player/team in the league. Now I find myself rooting big time for Rodgers and not hating on anyone because of a “team” they play on.
Ha! Same. I’m in Los Angeles and watched the Lions along with King Fu Billy Simms put on a clinic against the the Rams in Anaheim in 1980 and instantly became a lifelong fan. I didn’t care that the Lions would turn out to be one of the crappiest teams in the league. They were my Lions and I loved every painful minute of it. We had some wickedly talented tailbacks and running backs during my time as a fan. Barry Sanders was an absolute legend! It’s been over four years since I’ve watched a game and I don’t miss it.
As a former fan of the game I loved watching guys like Montana, Favre and Brady excel in their positions. You could even throw Aaron in there too, because he is now my favorite player even tho I no longer watch the game. I’ll root for him every day.
Throughout my entire life I’ve witnessed the NFL become a sad, pathetic joke of its former self. I grew up watching warriors like Jack and Jim Youngblood get paid a pittance and literally destroy their bodies in the process. That was the game that I loved. Not today’s overpaid, woke, pre madonnas crying injury at the thought of a hangnail.
The NFL can get eff’d. Rodgers on the other hand, deserves all the new fans he has earned through his fearless leadership. God speed Aaron on the rest of you NFL journey!
