True, but there are multiple ways to generate electricity.
How many ways are there to create gasoline?
Compare the number of moving parts in a ICE vs an EV, include the transmission
Compare the maintenance schedule, and expected motor life
What is on the road, battery technology wise, is not the same thing that is going to be on the road in 2-3 years. Everything is changing, as it was intended. What was once dirty - is becoming clean. Compare Coal fired power plants of the 1950's to the Coal plants in use today.
Are they the perfect solution to everyone, today? Nope
But, for us old geezers who remember when microwaves were thousands of dollars, and quickly heated hotdogs and cupcakes in the store demo - what tomorrow holds will be amazing.
I'll concede that electric motors are incredible in many ways. What are we going to do with the giant batteries when they are no longer useful? it is a huge toxic burden on the horizon along with the giant windmills and solar panels. No way to recycle that crap.
Lithium batteries can be recycled almost indefinitely. In fact Quantumscape has shown that recycled lithium has ~42% greater surface area than virgin Lithium. So point in fact, recycled Lithium is substantially more chemically reactive, due to the porous nature of the recycling process
There are several companies entering into the industry to do this. Battery grade lithium Carbonate was $12,840 back in 2019 and just topped over $40,000 this past year. There is gold sitting in the e-waste lithium collection sites
This fool probably doesn't realize that 80% or so of the electric generation comes from coal and natural gas. These people really are dopes.
