So... apparently we're going to be launching a cyber attack against ourselves here shortly?

The book and movie had different plots. In the post, the Anon talks about the movie but I don't think Q did. In the movie the Russian side was the antagonist. In the book, it's the American president and his close advisors. It's been a few years since I read it but, IIRC, the book plot is close to the reality we find ourselves in. In the book, middle eastern terrorists find an old Israeli nuke in the desert and make it active. I think they get plutonium on the black market from Savanah River. They smuggle it to Denver and blow up the Super Bowl. The American president is incompetent and sagging in popularity. He blames Russia. He ignores the CIA and military advisors, who can prove the attack was terrorists, and tries to order a nuclear strike on Russia. He is removed from power.
Wow, that is different than the movie. On so many points. In the movie I remember that neither US or Russia initiated the attack.
There was a Klaus Schwab/Soros type character that was the shit stirrer. There were Russians that were involved, but they were working for the bad guys. The shit stirrers tried to pit two superpowers to attack and destroy each other. Divide and conquer.
I will definitely check out the book. :-)
Super Bowl is February 13th, right around the corner.
