Why would Harris resign and give up the chance to be the first female President? She is second in command to a guy who could mentally breakdown at any moment.
And think about it, does she really come across as someone who wants to have the schedule of a Supreme Court Justice for the rest of her life? Even if she never ascends to the Presidency she’s in a position to cash in and live a life of wealth and leisure.
Next, the Biden’s have put in a lot of effort to marginalize Harris. Why would they want someone who is ruthless and believes she should be President? Okay, Hillary might be what the DS wants, but Biden doesn’t always play ball. He wasn’t supposed to run and more than likely he wasn’t supposed to push Harris out in public where she has turned off almost everyone.
What is the mechanism by which someone who is not holding an elected office in the US gov't gets selected to become a replacement VP? Does the House and Senate both vote, is it in the purview of the President who he selects? Just how would this happen?
This has been floating around in many forms even before the soon to be Supreme Court bench vaccancy.
Sure, it is possible. But extremely unlikely*. It would also require republicant support in the Senate.
*Currently Senate is 50-50 with kamala as tie breaker, if she goes then there is no one to tie break a controversial VP nomination. This could all change in the midterms if the dems pick up just one more Senate seat.

25th Amendment, section 2, the President nominates someone and it takes majority of both houses to confirm.
Won't happen. Biden said he wants a "black woman" on the supreme court.
🤔
Bright side of this scenario is the black robe would be a wardrobe improvement for her.
