My bedtime indulgence has been escaping into the lukewarm arms of nostalgia consisting of watching Simpsons episodes. What I'm realizing watching this show once again with the perspectives that I've been given from this group is that this show was straight-up comms from the beginning. This show didn't just make a bunch of absurd jokes it was straight-up social commentary at times to the extreme that they pretty much gave away the entire Playbook. I am still unsure about what Matt Groening's personal beliefs are but I do suspect that he is a believer in one form or the other. I know it's hard to believe given some of the content of the show however consider the fact that he does not have full control over it he is also at the mercy of fox executives. I am aware of his weird encounter on the flight with Epstein but considering the worst that we know of occurred was a foot rub, hopefully this is an indicator that he wasn't totally compromised. As far as I know there haven't been any accusations against him regarding any sort of misconduct.
Now I'm not trying to necessarily make excuses for the guy I just find it fascinating that even though he made fun of religion, he also still held a certain respect for it. The Christian characters would sometimes get wins and overall he seemed to have an understanding of the faiths that he made fun of, that's probably why they were so funny, because he knew what he was talking about and let's be honest we all get along a lot better if we can take a little joke about ourselves every now and then and his are funny even if they come off a little blasphemous at times.
Any other Simpsons Anons want to chime in, please do. I'm just in awe that they were so blatantly exposing everything... I don't know if this is the case with current seasons, but then again the shows and media are for the normies. We don't need validation.
At the time of making this post, I am watching S15 E8 aka Ep 321. Homer makes a Rudy Guliani reference so I figured, WTF I'll Q out a bit. Feel free to look yourself, but the stand out for me was post 123 (321 mirror)...
The simpsons pushed what they could get away with on a daytime tv show. I agree it should not have been pulled but it should have been given a late night time slot. And it paved the way for shows like south park. It showed that they could get away with more depravity in their shows if they were animated.
They are a major part of the degradation of tv and what is socially acceptable.
In no way should that show have been given day time time slots. You have kids getting home from school and watching a cat and mouse chop each other into bloody pieces while other kids laugh hysterically. That is not ok in anyway.
It was an adult cartoon that should have never been viewed by children. But these are the ways the ds gets to kids.
