It’s never to late to get started! May not be totally self sufficient but should be able to feed yourself and family longer than those who have no idea
I have stopped throwing away banana peels, eggshells and coffee grounds. I dehydrate the banana peels and put them in a blender before storage. Those three are all great sources of nutrients for your plants.
Nothing so fancy. I find it's important to carefully wash the egg shells before setting them aside to dry. As for the coffee, it has to be absolutely dry before putting it in a container or you'll get bugs. The banana peels do require dehydration or they will mold. As this is not long-term storage, I'm just using some empty protein powder containers with screw on lids for now.

That’s a great idea!! I just got a dehydrator. How do you store the eggs shells and coffee? Vacuum seal?

Thanks! I love all the knowledge on this forum!
Correct. I will include having a compost bin or two.
