Thing is: Morris dancers blacked their face because of ancient traditions. Blackened faces was to do with anonymity and is more often linked to acts of rebellion against the rural rich. http://internationalsocialistnetwork.org/index.php/ideas-and-arguments/analysis/508-emma-rock/

Black Peters in Holland blacked their faces because they were re-enacting the fact that St Nicholas had Moorish helpers. It's remembering, and also respectful.

That's not racist, it is just tradition.
