An interesting forum post here:
Something HUGE and really scary going on with aviation.
You can see for yourself. I am a former airline captain, I am out of the industry but I still keep tabs of what is going on. I have an app on my phone, it’s a free app that you can download yourself, it is called flightradar24. One of the really cool features of this app is you can have alerts set up so if an aircraft somewhere in the world declares an emergency, in the industry we call it squawking 7700, you can get a notification. I’ve had this app for years and usually you would see one to four emergencies pop up every month. That’s how it’s always been, aviation is pretty safe, there’s not a whole lot of emergencies worldwide on the monthly basis. But over the last couple of months I have been getting notifications sometimes up to 10 times a day. I’ve already had four this morning! Something huge and scary is going on out there and nobody is talking about it. I am seeing so many aircraft declaring !!
the past months peoples driving has also changed. I drive Truck roughly 3500 miles a week.
Myself and others have been talking about an increase of people driving 45 to 50 mph in 75mph speed zones. This can range from cars to semi trucks. some days are so bad I end up in the left lane for an hour or more with no one passing on a 3 to 4 lane highway.
even in my car my commute is held up due to people not being capable of driving faster then 50mph . I end up weaving around people only to end up with 10 miles of open highway before I end up in another pack. of slow people
I don't think the voostered can process speeds past 50mph.
I agree with rhe pilot , there is something scary going on
I noticed this too, but I just figured it was because my state now has millions of California transplants.
California drivers would be speeding. Routinely going 90 in a 55, in the middle lane with someone crawling up my ass. Can't get mad at them, the second you get upset at one driver another one comes along and pisses you off even more.
Nah, I saw that white bronco chase some years back. Those Californians were not speeding at 90mph in a 55. And that was a "chase"!
I came into Sanfran at 04:00 the only time I was there. My poor van struggled to hold 85 as people passed me like I was an old man. It was only once, but I will never forget the speeds. Californians are closer to God than they think :)
Last year the freeways have been crawling with slow pokes like 45 in a 65. Which is very abnormal for LA as you have said. Lately it seems to have gone back to normal.
