Problem is that police get violent on a daily basis with people. The only difference is this would be seen worldwide. Military is far more trustworthy than police are but military is still a branch of the government. I do believe most people in military that are of lower ranks are the ones that would want to serve their people and their country but it's the high ranking officers that are the problem more often than not.
Police would probably rather be sitting in a car doing nothing while earning money or doing something other than being out in the cold watching protesters but most police are the true definition of sheep, they follow orders even if the orders are unlawful. They often hide behind that excuse of following orders. People will defend them saying they have a life and family to take care of.
If someone puts everything on one single job and would die without that job then that person is most definitely not living a smart life. There is no guaranteed income, no guaranteed job. You can own your own business and go bankrupt still, no one is safe from the risk of losing their homes, cars, etc but that's just part of life.
If someone just follows orders and stands for nothing then they aren't doing themselves any favors in life. Far as these protests go, if enough people stand up then they can remind government around the world that we make up probably 99.5% of the population and they, government and all branches, are the actual minority with no real life power unless the people allows them to have real life power.
U.S. military never helps people in protests but they have come out in the form of the national guard to deal with protests properly when police fail at handling protests. The police still forever get a free pass , police protect each other too.
