Found this powerful video of the final days before Caucescu was overthrown in Romania.

Caucescu would constantly have these mandated public gatherings and everytime he would raise his hand, the crowd would need to quiet down and you wouldn't hear a peep. That last speech is amazing to see on video, you see the moment it all breaks down and Caucescu going through their known strategies to quieten the crowd fail. He then orders the army to take down civilians and then it's game over for him 2 days later.
This was an especially powerful moment. Attendance at these state-run rallies was basically mandatory. Most of those people were bussed there along with their co-workers from their jobs, chaperoned by their managers/supervisors. They were provided those pre-prepared signs and placards to carry. Of course this was incredibly intimidating and stifled dissent.
But on this day, they said BOOOOOOO!

Daughter has a friend that was purchased as a baby from Romania in 1990. She’s had a privileged life since but is a bit screwed up. she’s been back to Romania and met her birth family, older and younger siblings she was the one they sold.
At the time there were harrowing news reports of orphanages full of malnourished and disabled children the staff had vanished and left them to their own devices.
The blood thing? I don’t know about that only that Transylvania is part of Romania and that the Dracula myth was based on recorded events. Prince Charles has taken an active interest in Transylvania and has invested heavily there🤔
