To me it is as excusable as getting the vaccine in order to kerp your job. I have the luxury of a little money to pay bills and eat, but I have not always been so fortunate. I admit that at one point, I took a lot of harassment at work in order to keep insurance. Life is a constant struggle for so many. Most are doing their best.
