Seems like Jesus doesn’t like His name to be invoked in vain, even by va😵ers

It does make me wonder. I thought taking Gods name in vein was like setting up a charity but keeping the money for yourself.
There is an incredible story involving the famous golfer Lee Trevino. He was participating in a PGA golf tournament and there was a weather delay due to lightning. They were telling all the golfers to retreat indoors until the weather passed. Trevino instead decided to wait it out with the fans who were following his group. Being the jokester he was, Lee grabbed a 1 iron out of his bag and held the club up to the sky and said something to the effect of, “I’m protected, because even God can’t hit a 1 iron!” The gallery laughed. Eventually play resumed without incident. The very next weekend he was playing in another PGA tour event and he got struck by lightning! The strike bounced off water and zapped him. He says that he died that day and saw Heaven and it was beautiful. After multiple back surgeries to repair the damage done by the bolt of lightning he returned to the PGA tour and 4 years later won another major. To this day, he believes God struck him with lightning because God will not be mocked. Fear the Lord and always be respectful when mentioning his name, otherwise the consequences could be more than you bargained for.
I do hear about those but it must be a different kind of mocking. Ive seen people say things and be fine. Maybe theres something else in the mix.
