There was a case in Lake County, CA about 10 years ago where they convicted the advisor of fraud; prosecution basically insisted he should have known the client had dementia. It was BS and the case was overturned on appeal - but not before the guy lost everything. Judge really had it out for the guy. I talked with a couple of different attorneys about it and they were shocked. Said it never should have got that far. A prime example of the power of the government.
