We live west of there and don't usually hear a lot of planes flying over. Last night it was one plane after another after another after another for maybe an hour or so. I mean one plane would pass over and immediately we'd hear another plane. I heard one plane that sounded like a prop but most sounded like jets.
A little info on Manassas Airport. It's small but can handle corporate jets and has more takeoffs and landings than Dulles because it handles so many smaller planes. It's about 11-12 miles from Dulles. It was founded by a couple of WWII pilots who flew the Hump.
Agree - the skies have been full over the past few days - military and civilian...and that's saying something when we're used to Dulles flight pattern over us and the normal patterns of Manassas airport...
We get some flights from Dulles and Winchester and Manassas but nothing like what we heard last night. I've never heard that.
We're used to the "plane every four minutes" pattern that Dulles has :)
We're too far away for that. And usually by the time they fly over here, they're so high in the sky we hear little or nothing.
