Guys... I'm a unix/network admin. I've been working on the internet sense the early 90s before it was even called the internet. ALL net security revolves around DNS. If this is saying what I think its saying someone is in deep shit.
Short version is the Office of POTUS has to configure its machines to use a DNS server to resolve names. The bad guys had access to those servers via cooperate friends under contract to provide them and abused those admin privileges to watch what requests were made in an attempt to dig up dirt.
In other words if someone went to a web address like say littlegirlsex.com or maybe a known dark web site (with an otherwise normal name) that shares underage porn or whatever... they would know it. If they have the exact IP then they can use that as leverage against that employee or just expose it via their media contacts etc etc.
This is a HUGE breach in administrative trust. It probibly breaches their contracts too. My bet is the letter of those contracts dictates that certain breaches are considered criminal. Etc etc... BIG BIG DOO DOO...
