On Friday, the statewide indoor mask mandate was lifted (DE). Of course I don’t wear a mask anywhere, except in the conference room at the office where it’s easier to just wear it and shut up than start a fight.
But Friday, the statewide mandate was lifted. In celebration, I didn’t wear a mask at all, all day. In meetings in the conference room, walking around the office, nowhere.
Towards the end of the day, a mandate-loving, thrice-vaxxed coworker got up from her desk and began walking out of the office when she stopped and said “ugh, look at me, walking around without a mask like there isn’t a pandemic going on.”
I happened to be walking by, when she turned to a coworker and said “look at Magaman1776 walking around like there isn’t a pandemic going on.”
I passively said, “oh, they lifted the mandate today.”
“In the office?” She replied sarcastically (technically, there was a mandate in the public spaces of the office and technically it hadn’t been lifted by our bosses, but fuck all that noise).
“In the state.” I said. She rolled her eyes and walked away, masked. Not before she could clearly see my shit eating grin.
A lot of these people have never had real serious issues in life, maybe a pet rabbit dying or a long distant relative, but they have never been anywhere near a dangerous situation or know the feeling of being close to death.
But these are the ones who have lapped this last 2 years up. They think they are intelligent yet somehow cannot understand basic statistics like the average age of death from the coof is older than the natural age of death, or (from my own governments figures) the published survival rates for 70 yrs old and below with no other medical problems it's 99.98%.
No, they thrive on the drama, love the virtue signalling and to be honest the self induced power the situation has given them. "Hey you put your mask on don't you know there's the deadliest virus ever known to man going around" despite them knowing nobody that has had anything worse than a mild flu.
I got into a heated argument with this one female, she happens to be loosely connected to the health service, has a mid level job and a few qualifications. Her whole argument seemed to rotate around her own self belief that because of her "status" I couldn't possibly understand scientific papers and reports because I didn't do her job, so therefore my understanding was wrong. Boy is she going to wake up hard one day! She had zero understanding about how Mrna worked, or any of the statistics, but you know she's educated in it so just shut up.
No, these people have empty lives, devoid of much risk or never placed themselves in danger, never felt the huge surge of adrenalin from such actions (it's actually quite addictive) and never will. So this is their thing, their drama, their reason to have some power around others, most are good people some are cowards, but all love the DRAMA.
