The guy who writes the symbolism blog touches on this theme. One example he gave was an interview Cosby did on Letterman just before everything went south for him. He was apologizing but it was cryptic. Obviously he was trying to talk to someone. Very similar.
I wonder now about his son being killed if that wasn't a message of sorts.
I’ve personally always felt Cosby was set-up...he is/was one of the few blacks who presented a strong, functional black family on TV. He would always talk about personal responsibility. He was like a Thomas Sowell in that he’d call out how successful blacks were in the early 1900’s and then you get the welfare program, and media reprogramming targeting the black population with gangsters, etc and you have a complete destruction of black community. Also the introduction of crack, etc. If as a black person you stand up and name this stuff - call it out - they try and destroy you.
Gary Webb wrote about this and was suicided, 2 bullets to the back of head style suicide
I believe Malcolm X before he was murdered had a change of heart too and was outspoken about it. Then he was dead.
He found out how deeply imbedded the feds were within the Muslim brotherhood.
That thought has crossed my mind as well. Because apparently some of the accusations went back to the late 60s. I know things change and all, but really?
However , I can see where he had a lot of power at one point. I know a couple of people who have adult kids that have worked in entertainment as crew behind the camera - life is a lot different there.
Edit to add: it makes me wonder who exactly he pissed off.
I was watching Godfather the other night...one scene..all the crime families get together and discuss drugs as a new business and some were against it and would only sell it in black neighborhoods bc "they had no soul".
