it's like the lock on your front door, it only keeps out the honest people, who wouldn't come in uninvited even if the door was wide open. The lock only slows down the criminals who will find a way in if they want to.

Honest people stay out regardless, the lock is to stop opportunistic thieves looking for easy targets they'll likely escape with before being spotted.
