It currently getting it's numerical value from the papers market, yes, but I can still use/trade a 1oz gold round without ever converting to fiat. It's just more limited/harder than just using fiat all together.
It's really going to be interesting seeing how this all plays out. I believe a market crash is on the horizon and fiat will reach epic levels of inflation (hyper inflation?) and I can't to see how much downtime we see as we transition to the new system (whatever that is). This part of "the plan" has to be insanely complicated. I can't even fathom it.

I get what you are saying and I've thought a lot about that as well. Maybe a gold or silver backed currency would be introduced as it once was.
I honestly have no clue what the process will look like, but I feel confident we will be on one hell of a ride during it all.
