Those who lived through the fall of the iron curtain reported the authorities, right before losing power, desperately escalated their oppressive actions against the people to the point of being obviously deranged to everyone witnessing it. This was universal in all the communist countries. Notably, the final fall of those regimes happened soon after the desperate repressions and occured shockingly fast. Think Berlin wall and Romania as two examples. They went from tyranny to freedom almost overnight. Canada is accelerating to that moment imo.
