First, let me suggest that there are both good and bad public school teachers.
It would very beneficial for us (and our kids) to reach the good teachers that are deceived by a bad system.
Here's what many teachers do not understand, and what would be useful to share with them...
Public school teachers are often so poorly funded that they have to buy classroom supplies out of their personal funds.
What they think, (because they are being told this), is that 'the school system isn't being funded well enough' --- because of conservatives/Trump/etc.
The truth is that most school boards are squandering lots of money (lavish board rooms, pet projects, 'mysterious' budget items, superintendent/bureaucrat salaries, etc).
Suggestion:
- Research your school district.
- Find the waste.
- Speak about it publicly at the school board meetings, being careful to explain how this hurts the kids and the teachers who pay for things out of their pockets.
Will you reach the bad teachers? No.
But you might reach some of the good teachers, and erode the school board support from underneath. (Especially if you disclose the ratio of a teacher salary to a bureaucrat salary.)
You'll also get the word out to the general population about how our school tax money is being wasted.
Happy hunting!
(It might be very persuasive to document how expensive the school board meeting room is. The massive semi-circular raised seating areas, the fancy aristocratic chairs, huge display walls, etc. After all, when did it become acceptable for a simple school board to spend obscene amounts of school money on a meeting hall that is specifically designed to make them look like untouchable, all-knowing gods? Use their carefully constructed visuals against them.)
I know, we all have heard it all thats for sure. Pretty disgusting that service just means showing up and saying hello and have a good day.
