Back in the old days, I was a tunnel rat who helped wire explosives to collapse tunnels. Effective, but there was nothing on top, say a border wall, that needed to be protected. Today, foaming void filling materials pumped into the tunnels will seal, harden and protect structures above. Cheap and economical. In either case, trapped drug traffickers are a bonus.

Blowing up drug cartel tunnels sounds kinda... dumb? That would make a larger cave structure. Maybe destabilize the wall too.
