Under the overarching rubric of jihad, there are multiple types - finance, direct violence, lies and disinfo etc. One such pathway/strategy of theirs is to parasite off an enemy nation so ruinously that it gets weakened sufficiently for the more direct violence jihadis to overthrow and destroy.

So thats what you and your wife saw, tapeworms that are utterly committed to breeding up and clogging the arteries of their host creature/nation to kill it.
